After your brush with Ilia’s sporting past, your journey continues through valleys and mountains and on to the wonderful beaches of the area. There are many secrets to uncover and many wonderful holiday experiences to be savoured on this western stretch of the Peloponnese.

Kaïafas

Kaïafas, where nymphs bathed

As you approach Kaïafas, a vast pine forest greets you. The thermal springs here flow from the caves of the Anigrian and Atlantean nymphs. A narrow strip of land separates the sea from the Lagoon of Kaïafas and the islet of Agia Ekaterini is set in the middle like a gemstone. Your holidays here will be like a fairy tale.

Ancient Olympia

A stroll through history

In one of the most important religious and athletic centres of antiquity (the cradle of the Olympic ideal and symbol of the timeless values of bravery, honour, peace and freedom) you will be awestruck as the centuries fall away before your eyes.

The oak forest of Foloi

The oak forest of Foloi, known since antiquity as the kingdom of the mythical Centaur!

It is one of the rarest oak forests in Europe and unique in the Balkans. It is located in Ilia, southwest of Mount Erymanthos and according to mythology, it was named after the king of the Centaurs Folos, a friend of Hercules. Due to its morphology, the forest of Foloi is ideal for activities such as hiking, mountain biking and horse riding and will satisfy even the most demanding nature lover who will visit it.
